Goldsboro stable closes after horses were found 'thin'

Posted: Updated:
GOLDSBORO, N.C. -

Three horses are dead, some of which had to be euthanized, after authorities say they were found in poor conditions at a Wayne County horse farm.

A total of 8 horses were being cared for at Avalon Stables in Goldsboro. But animal control officers said the horses were thin and needed care.

Three of them didn't make it through the winter storm of last week.

Animal Control said the remaining horses are waiting for new boarding arrangements.

The owner of the horses told us they were getting better, but she had trouble getting hay to the barn in the winter storm to feed the animals. Avalon Stables is now closed.
