HOPE MILLS, N.C. -
A man believed to be involved in a police chase in Hope Mills earlier this month has been apprehended by United States Marshals.
Police had been looking for Ryan Marchon Bingham, 24, since Feb. 1 after police said he was a passenger in a vehicle that rammed police cars during a chase.
At 12:41 a.m. on Feb. 1, a Hope Mills detective attempted to make a traffic stop for suspected narcotics violations. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit followed, with a Hope Mills police unit joining the chase. The fleeing car hit smashed the two cars and gunfire followed.
The driver of the car, 25-year-old Kevin Dejon Grissett, was shot and killed, while Bingham escaped.
The incident is still under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation and the Hope Mills Police Department.
