Alabama's Hart arrested, no longer with football team

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -

Former Alabama running back Dee Hart was arrested Sunday night and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and providing false information to a law enforcement officer.

Tuscaloosa police responded to a call from a gas station saying a customer had given him counterfeit money. When police arrived, Hart gave police a false name but was quickly identified.

He was arrested and taken to the police station, and after he left the police car, officers found a plastic bag with eight ounces of marijuana in it.

Both charges are misdemeanors in Alabama. Hart was released on $1,300 bond.

Monday afternoon, the University of Alabama released a statement saying Hart was no longer part of the football team, and had not been with the team since the Crimson Tide's January loss to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl.
