90,000 People Attend Friday Night's Parade

MOBILE, Alabama -

No Parking signs are easy to spot in downtown Mobile. Parking are warning you to watch you park before parade time. If not, it'll cost you.

"If it is towed it's at least $125 to get your vehicle out of the temporary impound yard which is near the old Rousso's building," said Ashley Rains with the Mobile Police Department.

At least 8 vehicles are towed before each parade, according to Mobile Police. If $125 sounds bad, it could get a lot worse. If you leave your car overnight downtown in the impound yard, get ready for the storage fees to add up.

"The vehicle actually goes to our permanent impound yard where there is the $125 fee, plus also a storage vehicle fee for towing the vehicle over to the impound yard," said Rains.

While you're enjoying the parade police have a job to do and they plan on keeping patrols a top priority through Fat Tuesday.

"We actually have a unit that will go through the parade route beginning 2 hours before the parade and if there are cars that are parked on the parade route you are going to be towed. They also go through the neighborhoods in the streets where they have the no parking signs and look for those too. At the minimum you're going to get a ticket, but especially on the parade route your car is going to be towed and it's fairly expensive," said Rains.
