Lady Cherokees Honored after Winning State Title

COLUMBUS, GA - The Kendrick Lady Cherokees were honored Thursday afternoon for winning the state championship in basketball.

Coach Sterling Hicks and his girls got to run out on their home floor one more time this season in front of all their fans. Mayor Teresa Tomlinson declared today Kendrick Lady Cherokees’s day.

“It feels good to have the kids recognized for the hard work they put in. So, I’m very proud,” said Coach Hicks.

It kind of warms your heart because you know you did it for all these people that wanted you to get the job done and wanted you to get that state championship. It's a feel of success. It's a feeling you can't even describe,” Lawrence said.

Lawrence says her next step is more college visits. She'll play at Coastal Carolina, Furman, Mercer, Georgia College, or Kennesaw State.
