Raleigh City Council to ban dogs in city playgrounds

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Raleigh City Council approved the restriction of dogs and other pets from playgrounds in the city parks system.

The City said Raleigh City code will prohibit dogs and pets from fenced and unfenced areas of playgrounds and other amenities intended for use by children.

The City Council did not vote on the recommendation so it is unclear when the restriction will go into effect.

The city council also approved the development of additional dog parks and dog areas to include neighborhoods assisting with ongoing maintenance.
