Two women arrested after car chase through Columbus, Phenix City

PHENIX CITY, Ala. - Officers from three different agencies in two different states were involved in a car chase Tuesday morning.

The Phenix City Police department say Columbus Police asked for help in catching a car that had been reported stolen and that the driver may be a robbery suspect. Police say they finally caught up to the green Chevy Cavalier and two women on U.S. Highway 431 South near County Rd. 26. 

The driver- 31-year-old Susan Stafford -- and the passenger 40-year-old Laleria Johnson were arrested. Police say the women are both charged with bringing a stolen vehicle into the state -- and Stafford faces cocaine charges.
