Nearly 50 dogs are recovering after being rescued from living in filthy conditions at a suspected puppy mill.

Duplin County Animal Control became suspicious about the dogs welfare at a property in Faison.

They got a search warrant.

Once they got on the property, they found small dogs like Yorkies and big dogs like German Shepards in cages without access to food and water.

The owner agreed to give the animals up.

The animals are now at Duplin County Animal Shelter and the SPCA of Wake County getting needed medical treatment.
