Auburn police make arrest in Spencer Avenue shooting

AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn Police Department has arrested a 21-year-old Opelika man a day after releasing his photo to the public.

Jaquavious Montrell Strickland, who goes by the nickname "Rell," turned himself in to detectives Tuesday morning. On Monday, police had released his photo to the public and identified him as a suspectt wanted for shooting into an occupied home in the 600 block of Spencer Avenue on Saturday.

Around 12:48a ct, officers responding to a shooting found a 25-year-old woman suffering from a single gunshot wound inside a home in the 600 block. She was treated and released from East Alabama Medical Center. An additional victim, identified only as a 21-year-old man, arrived at the hospital after thirty minutes after the shooting. He remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding Strickland's location is asked to call authorities at 334-501-2140 or 334-246-1391.
