"RiverFest" returns: New event, same name

Posted: Updated:
Uptown Columbus is bringing a "RiverFest" back to the Chattahoochee River valley, the organization announced Tuesday. The weekend long event borrows the name of an event not seen for several years.

The free, weekend long event will be held May 9 and 10. It kicks off that Friday night at 7p et when "The Ultimate Eagles Tribute - On the Border" perform at the main stage at Woodruff Park as a part of the Uptown Concert Series. Activities continue Saturday with the Boy Scout's Scout Expo, the second annual Dragon Boat Race and more live music.

"Our plan is to make Uptown's RiverFest weekend an annual Uptown celebration," Uptown Columbus CEO Richard Bishop says in a news release. "We aim to expose our community to the vast array of Uptown attractions and activities on the river, and encourage the use of the river by our residents and visitors."
