Snakes shut out in game one

PEORIA, Ill. -

The Columbus Cottonmouths got off a lot of shots in Wednesday’s game one of the SPHL playoffs against Peoria.

Unfortunately, none of them found the back of the net.

Rivermen goalie Kyle Rank stopped all 35 of the Snakes’ shots, as they fell in game one, 2-0.

SPHL leading scorer Garrett Vermeersch scored both goals, once on a power play in the first period and again at even strength in the second.

Andrew Loewen stopped 24 of 26 shots in taking the loss.

The series shifts back to Columbus for Friday’s must-win game for the Cottonmouths. The puck is scheduled to drop at 7:30 p.m. ET.
