FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Fayetteville police said the driver of a white vehicle acted suspiciously towards a 13-year-old girl while she was walking to a bus stop Friday morning.

Police said the girl was walking around 6:30 a.m. in the area of Bayleaf Drive near Palmetto Lane when a 1998 or 1999 Ford Escort pulled up next to her.

The driver of the Ford Escort opened the passenger side door and began to talk to the girl, police said. The driver acted like he knew the girl but the student kept walking until the driver left the area.

The girl told police the driver did not attempt to force her into the vehicle.

Police described the driver as a black male, between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information concerning the suspicious activity or the identity of the male subject is asked to contact detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Special Victims Unit at (910) 433-1851 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
