Gala of the Royal Horses - WRBL

Gala of the Royal Horses

Posted: Updated:
An amazing performance is coming to the Columbus Civic Center on Friday, April 4th. It's called the "Gala of the Royal Horses" and it features riders and horses from around the world.

Their called royal horses...not just because they think their special, but because they actually have a royal history.

Riding master Rene Gasser said, "We're here with our magnificent horses...Gala of the Royal Horses...and all of these horses stem from royalty. So, I think for the first time ever we're taking on the world with all the horses from Europe".

The horses are considered some of the most celebrated in history..favored also by equestrian riders and bullfighters. Now, they are coming to Columbus. This is the first time the equestrian tour has come to North America.

Gasser also said, "We toured Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, New Zealand, and now its finally time to do the United States."

The show features stallions including those that are Andalusian and Arabian breeds. The horses perform different stunts that show what their capable of.

Armand Lacayo is one of the professional riders in the show. He says its amazing to be apart of it.

Lacayo said, "Working with the horses...just getting on the stage with the horses and hearing the cheering and the children especially their faces...looking at the horses..we in our costumes and uniforms and seeing those kids in the audience and just mesmerizing over what we're doing. I think that's fantastic."

He also said that riding horses is in his genes and it's something that he's very proud of.

Lacayo said, "It's been a tradition in my family. They are descendants of many, many riders in the past so as a kid we started riding and now I carry that tradition."

The riders say its fun to travel to cities like Columbus...bringing the "Gala of the Royal Horses" performance to a new audience....and letting the horses show what they can do.

Instead of destroying them, The Columbus Police Department is selling hundreds of seized guns. Some of the guns were used in crimes, others were found on the road- all of them now headed back to the streets.“The policeman in me says I’d rather not see that gun back on the street, we’ve already gotten a hold of it once, but you’ve got 550 guns- will every one of them be used in a crime? No. Some of them will be sold to someone that will enjoy the use of that gun for the rest of their life and ...
