Pearl adds former Columbia coach to Auburn staff

AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn head basketball coach Bruce Pearl has hired Todd Golden to be the Tigers' director of basketball operations.

Golden spent the 2013-14 season as an assistant at Columbia, when the Lions went 21-13 and earned a berth in the Tournament.

“I was incredibly honored when Coach Pearl approached me about joining his staff at Auburn,” Golden said in a news release. “After taking into consideration Coach Pearl’s past success in the SEC, along with the storied history of Auburn basketball, I felt there was no better program for me to learn and continue to grow as a young basketball coach at the highest level of college competition.”

Golden is a 2007 graduate of St. Mary's, where he played for four years, playing in the NCAA Tournament twice. As a senior, he led the West Coast Conference in three-pointers with 31.

“In coaching, in management and in leadership you surround yourself with people better than you and you look for great dimensions,” Pearl said. “Having coached Todd Golden and having watched his career in coaching I knew he could be a great asset to help me develop this program.”
