Memorial planned for 5 year-old Riverside boy attacked by pit bull

ST. CLAIR COUNTY, AL - A citywide memorial is scheduled for tomorrow in honor of a 5 year-old boy who was attacked and killed by a pit bull while playing outside.

The remembrance ceremony for John Harvard will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Honeysuckle Way and KOA Road in Riverside. Walmart has donated 100 balloons for the event. The mayor, other city leaders and family members are expected to attend.

Meanwhile, a funeral service is scheduled to being at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Baptist Church in Pell City thanks to donations from across the county. A burial plot was also donated.

The pit bull was euthanized days after the incident. Still no charges have been filed.
