Search is on for next Durham Public Schools superintendent

Posted: Updated:
DURHAM, N.C. - Today, Durham Public Schools wants to hear from you about the qualities it should look for in its next superintendent.

A consultant will moderate a forum Monday and Tuesday at the school district's headquarters.

Eric Becoats stepped down in Durham as superintendent of Durham Public Schools.

He spent three years as superintendent with a yearly salary of more than $215,000. His resignation came after records revealed he spent more than $20,000 with his district-issued credit card on out-of-state conferences, air travel and meals.

Becoats also came under fire for his use of an activity bus.

Since Becoats' resignation, Hugh Osteen has served as the interim superintendent of DPS.

The school board started their search for a new superintendent in January.

Monday's forum starts at 6:30 p.m.

There's another hearing Tuesday morning at 11:00.

Feedback is also being accepted online until Wednesday morning.
