Malzahn plays "hurry-up, no-huddle bingo"

AUBURN, Ala. -

Gus Malzahn is a man who wears many hats.

On Wednesday, he added “Bingo Caller” to that list.

As part of the annual “Tigers Give Back” community service day, Malzahn visited the Oak Park Nursing Home in Auburn and called bingo numbers for more than an hour.

After telling the group they were going to play “hurry-up, no-huddle bingo”—news that was met with cheers—one player said Malzahn was playing too fast.

“I’ll slow down,” Malzahn said. “That sounds like some of my players, saying we go to fast, have to slow down.

“Or it sounds like some of our opponents.”

The room exploded on that one.

“It was a lot of fun,” Malzahn said afterwards. “We played a little hurry-up, no-huddle bingo. They responded well. It was a lot of fun, lot of Auburn fans here, too, so that was real exciting. Lot of War Eagles, lot of excitement in the room. We had a good morning.”

Malzahn was one of more than 100 Tiger coaches, staff members or administrators who volunteered around the Auburn area Wednesday morning.
