2014 Drug Take Back day in Auburn

Posted: Updated:
AUBURN, Ala. - Across the country Saturday, Law Enforcement Agencies are collecting unwanted and unused prescription drugs. The Auburn University School of Pharmacy and the Auburn Police Division collected prescription medicine at Our Home Pharmacy in Auburn. Auburn Police say disposing of the drugs properly keeps them away from children and young adults.

"It also lets the elderly have a place to do it so they realize they don't have to keep this in their home. They can dispose of it in a safe and efficient manner," said Lt. Scott Mingus with the Auburn Police Department.

Last year, the department collected more than 100 pounds of prescription medication. After Saturday event, the Drug Enforcement Administration will take the pills and dispose of them properly. If you couldn't make the event on Saturday, you can drop your unwanted or unused medications at the Auburn Police Department. For more information you can contact the Auburn Police Department at 334-501-3110.
