Brookstone students cut hair for cancer patients

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

More than 40 girls, and one guy, cut their hair Sunday to be donated to women with cancer.

The hair will be donated to a foundation that creates free real-hair wigs for women who have lost their hair to cancer. Hundreds attended the event Sunday in Brookstone's gym.

The event organizer and Brookstone student, Kate Wilson, started the event two years ago after her mom was diagnosed with cancer and went through chemotherapy. She tells News 3, she is overwhelmed by the turnout.

“It's just amazing to see such selflessness,” said Wilson. “I feel so inspired right now by the love that they've spread through all of this.”

Wilson is graduating from Brookstone in the spring. She has already passed the event on to a couple underclassmen so "Cuts for a Cure" can live on next year.
