Gov. Robert Bentley declares state of emergency in severe weather

Governor Robert Bentley has declared a state of emergency as a result of the severe weather crossing Alabama tonight.

With that announcement comes the authorization to mobilize 100 National Guard units to be on standby, in case Alabama communities need their assistance.

"Some of our communities have already experienced significant damage as a result of the tornadoes that began moving through Alabama earlier today," Gov. Bentley's aid. "By issuing a state of Emergency, I am directing all state agencies to take necessary actions to respond to Alabama communities that need help."
