PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -

A Pine Mountain man got out of his mobile home unharmed and just in time after his house was struck by lightning and burned down.

Family of the man tells News 3 the lightning hit the home at about 5:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. The man woke up after hearing something in his kitchen. He saw that the kitchen was on fire and tried to put it down. When it got too big for him to put out, he ran outside. Just a few seconds later, the house engulfed in flames and slowly burned to the ground. The man was not injured, but lost just about everything in the fire.

“He’s blessed because he could have been hurt in that flame,” says the man’s cousin Teresa Tucker. “If the Lord hadn’t woke him up he probably would have been dead. I thank God he made it out.”

Red Cross volunteers were at the man’s home Tuesday afternoon to help with the cleanup.
