LANETT, Ala. -

Authorities say a man wanted for the murder of a store clerk in Union City, Georgia was trying to hide in a tree in Lanett, Alabama.

D’Vontavious Williams was arrested today. He was booked into the Chambers County Detention Facility before extradition to Georgia.

Police say the robbery and murder happened last Monday in Union City, Georgia.

WGCL in Atlanta reports that 28-year-old Sohil Padania was killed at a convenience store. The CBS affiliate reports that a woman who worked at the store said that Padania gave the gunman all of his money before being killed.

Lanett Police say they found out that Williams was hiding in a housing unit. Police say Williams ran from there and was later spotted hiding on a playground behind an apartment complex. Police say they found Williams in a tree and ordered him to come down.

Williams now faces charges of Felony Murder and Fugitive from Justice.
