City officials testing out new Greenville Emergency Operations Center

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Greenville city officials are trying out their new Emergency Operations Center.

They're training in the new facility, using the timeline of Hurricane Floyd as a practice run of how to best prepare and respond to an emergency situation.

"It's rare that you get a chance to do something like this because everyone has their everyday jobs to do, but it's important because we always need to be ready to respond to emergencies to help our citizens," said Steve Hawley, Communications Manager.

The Department of Homeland Security paid for the new facility and state grant money is covering the cost of this week's exercise.
