MARINE CORPS AIR STATION CHERRY POINT, N.C. -
Just because it's Monday, doesn't mean you can't start looking forward to the weekend. The Cherry Point Air show kicks off Friday. 9 On Your Side gets an exclusive preview.
Every two years-- Eastern North Carolina gets a special treat with this "once in a lifetime experience." This year our Andrew Ruiz had the chance to go up in a "yak 52 experimental plane."
Built in 1984, it goes up to 240-miles-per-hour and has a range of 300 nautical miles. The pilot of the plane says air shows like this one-- give people a first-hand look at what our military is doing and may inspire you-- to fly one yourself.
"My son is actually in flight school now and he and his friends ended up starting to go to air shows and same here." Martin Sheehan said.
