Opelika man dies after Loachapoka shooting

An Opelika man has died after an apparent shooting in Loachapoka early Sunday morning, the Lee County coroner says.

Around 4a ct Sunday, medical personnel responded to the 2800 block of Lee Road 188 in Loachapoka after a reported shooting. Upon arrival, the Lee County Sheriff's Department learned Mark Greathouse had already been transported by family and friends to the East Alabama Medical Center. Greathouse, 36, of Opelika, died a short time later the hospital from multiple gunshot wounds.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and asked anyone with information to call them at 334-749-5651.

Greathouse's body has been taken to the medical examiner's office in Montgomery for an autopsy.
