Arrest made in Columbus Carl Gregory carjacking

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Douglas County Police Department has released the identity of the man arrested in connection with the hijacking a car from the Carl Gregory car dealership on Victory Drive in Columbus.

Dejonquavius Shine, 30,  is accused of stealing a 2014 Dodge Charger from an employee of the car dealership during a test drive. That employee reported to police that a man came into the dealership posing as a potential buyer and asked to test drive the automobile. The Carl Gregory employee went with the suspect on the test drive and was shortly met by at least 3 more suspects and forced at gunpoint into the back seat of the vehicle, according to police in a news release late Wednesday night.

The employee was blindfolded and then driven around Columbus until finally being dropped off on Chattsworth Road. The stolen 2014 Dodge Charger was later recovered in Douglas County, Georgia after being involved in a police pursuit and officer involved shooting, police say.

Police say Shine will be brought back to Columbus at a later date to face his charges.

Also arrested  are: Trequarious Hester, 18; Javarian Roberson, 18; and two juveniles.

The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected, according to police.
