Pirates win ACCC tourney, headed to JUCO World Series

OZARK, Ala. - The Chattahoochee Valley Pirates are the ACCC champions, defeating Alabama Southern, 11-5 Thursday afternoon in Ozark, Ala.

With the win, the tops-in-the-country Pirates clinch a spot in the JUCO World Series, representing Region 22 in Grand Junction, Col. beginning May 24.

CVCC jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, but saw the Eagles tie it in the fourth. After ASCC took the lead in the top of the sixth, Smiths Station alum Tyler Lynn went deep to lead off the bottom and tie it.

The Pirates led 6-5 going into the eighth, but scored five runs without tallying a hit to put the game out of reach.

Head coach Adam Thomas was named Conference Coach of the Year. Pitcher Dylan Rentz was named Tournament MVP, and shortstop John Holland was named Conference Player of the Year.
