Historic Columbus announces scholarship winner

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Historic Columbus awarded Ryanne Cotterell their 21st annual Patricia Jackson Howard Memorial Scholarship. Cotterell, a Columbus High School senior was selected from several applicants for her commitment to academics and service to the community. Cotterell is a member of the National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Senior Council, National English Honor Society, and National Spanish Society. She volunteered for Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Alzheimer's Association, Ft. Benning Red Cross, and the Columbus Youth Soccer Club. Cotterell is planning to study International Affairs at the University of Georgia. 

Two other Muscogee County seniors, Andon Mack of Hardaway High School and Anna Laura Davenport of Hardaway High School, were awarded an autographed copy of the book Images: A Pictorial History of Columbus by noted Columbus historian F. Clason Kyle. Andon Mack also won the Historic Columbus essay contest which awarded his teacher, Victoria Andras $500 to go toward classroom supplies. The Patricia Jackson Howard Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Howard who served as the second Executive Director of Historic Columbus from 1989-1992. The scholarship provides $2,500 to the recipient.
