Man acquitted of murder last year face new charges

Posted: Updated:
JACKSONVILLE, N.C. - Nickey Yates, 22, walked out of an Onslow County courthouse a free man last year after facing murder charges, now he's back in jail with a $1 million dollar bond. Jacksonville Police officials say he fled his probation last week and was facing warrants for previous controlled substance violations.

He was found, along with his co-conspirator in the drug case, Pantelis Medonis, at the My Motel in Jacksonville. They both fled from probation earlier this week.

Yates and Medonis were both taken into custody without incident. Yates is being held in the Onslow County Jail on a $1,100,000 bond and Mendonis is being held on a $1,000,000.
