What you need to know on Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, May 20. You can cast your vote for mayor, your district's city council and school board members, and it it the primary election for Georgia governor and the open US Senate seat.

Don't go to the polls empty-handed!
You will need one of these accepted forms of identification:
    1.    Any valid state or federal government issued photo ID
    2.    A Georgia Driver's License, even if expired
    3.    Valid employee photo ID from any branch, department, agency, or entity of the U.S. Government, Georgia, or any county, municipality, board, authority or other entity of this state
    4.    Valid U.S. passport ID
    5.    Valid U.S. military photo ID
    6.    Valid tribal photo ID
    or, you can bring your Free Voter Identification Card

If you do not know where your local polling place is, go to www.columbusga.org/elections to find out. You can also call the Elections Office at (706) 653-4392.

    In the only runoff race in Muscogee County, challenger John Thomas has pulled off a huge victory to capture the district 2 school board seat. Thomas handily defeated incumbent John Wells who has served on the board for 28 years. Thomas captured 80% of the vote topping Wells' 20% of the vote.
