Columbus churches providing rides to polling places

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Several Columbus-area churches are providing transportation to and from polling places Tuesday for anyone who may need assistance getting around.

Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, Friendship Baptist Church, Greater Peace Baptist Church, Metropolitan Baptist Church and Greater Ward Chapel AME are providing rides between 8a and 5p et Tuesday.

Anyone in assistance of a ride is asked to call 706-324-6926 to setup an appointment.

    In the only runoff race in Muscogee County, challenger John Thomas has pulled off a huge victory to capture the district 2 school board seat. Thomas handily defeated incumbent John Wells who has served on the board for 28 years. Thomas captured 80% of the vote topping Wells' 20% of the vote.
