Errors doom Pirates in season-ending loss

Posted: Updated:
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - A dropped fly ball with two outs in the bottom of the second opened the floodgates as the Chattahoochee Valley Pirates fell hard to Spartanburg, 18-3, in the NJCAA World Series.

The loss ends the Pirates' season.

Two runs scored on the error, then the Pioneers plated seven more in the frame--all unearned.

Spartanburg would score eight more in the third as the Pirates would go on to commit six errors.

CVCC set the program record for regular-season wins with 43 this year.
