Gov. Pat McCrory's choice to join North Carolina's state panel that considers contested workers' compensation claims has cleared the House after Democrats argued again he wasn't a good pick when it came to workers' rights.
The House gave its final confirmation Wednesday to Charlton Allen of Mooresville to join the six-member state Industrial Commission after an initial vote Tuesday. Allen still must be confirmed by the Senate.
Minority Leader Larry Hall of Durham says Allen's answers to a questionnaire when he ran for the General Assembly shows he'd represent business interests more than those of employees. But GOP Rep. Tim Moore of Shelby says Allen's work representing workers shows he perfectly fits the bill for the commission's post.
The House confirmed Allen on Wednesday by a vote of 79-40.
