Tech's Clay, Tide's Moore selected on draft's second day

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Georgia Tech sophomore left-handed pitcher Sam Clay was chosen in the fourth round, no. 110 overall, by the Minnesota Twins on Friday in the Major League Baseball draft.

Clay is the first—and so far only—Yellow Jacket selected. He led the team in appearances in 2014, saving eight games in 31 chances while splitting the closer role with Dusty Isaacs. The hard-throwing lefty finished the year 4-1 with a 1.26 ERA.

Just over 100 picks later, Alabama outfielder/catcher Ben Moore came off the board.

Moore was picked in the eighth round, no. 254 overall, by the Boston Red Sox. He played mostly right field for the Tide this season, but was drafted as a catcher.

He led Alabama with nine home runs, good enough for third in the conference, and was second on the team with 39 runs driven in.
