NEWPORT, N.C. - Phase V of “Operation Pill Crusher” has rounded up another 9 people in Carteret County.

A month ago, Sheriff Asa Buck and District Attorney Scott Thomas announced 24 arrests in the first round of the undercover drug operation called “Operation Pill Crusher.” Since then, they've rounded up another 29 people in Phase II, Phase III, and Phase IV of the operation.

The operation is an effort to target criminal suspects who have been engaged in the illegal sales and diversion of prescription medication and other illegal drugs in Carteret County.

Those charged in phase V of “Operation Pill Crusher” include:

Ashley Elizabeth Adams, 17

Bond: $5,000 secured
• 2 counts - Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, & deliver marijuana
• 2 counts - Sell or deliver marijuana

Willis O’Neil Brown, 31

Bond: $75,000 secured
• 3 counts – Maintaining vehicle/dwelling/place for controlled substances
• 2 counts – Sell or deliver marijuana
• 2 counts – Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, & deliver marijuana
• 1 count - Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, & deliver

• 1 count – Sell and deliver Schedule II controlled substances

The Carteret County Sheriff’s Office worked in coordination with D.A. Scott Thomas’ office reviewing criminal histories and prior criminal activity on the targeted suspects. Police say many of the targeted offenders have extensive criminal records as well as prior drug conviction and previous probationary sentences.

Sheriff Asa Buck said previously the arrests are just the beginning and over the next several weeks a significant number of additional arrests will be made.
