Braves' Carpenter goes on 15 day D.L. - WRBL

Braves' Carpenter goes on 15 day D.L.

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, Ga. - Braves pitcher David Carpenter was injured during the Braves’ extra innings loss to the Phillies Monday night. Carpenter pitched a scoreless eleventh inning before leaving the game with a strained bicep.

He is going to the 15-day disabled list.

The Braves already have four pitchers on the disabled list including two who are gone for the season.. Carpenter has struggled this year, especially if you compare it to last season...

He has given up 13 runs this season, that's the same amount he gave up last year, and it’s only June.

The Braves bullpen looks different than it did at the beginning of the season. Craig Kimbrel is still dominating as a closer. The new guy, Shae Simmons, has been impressive since he was called up on May 31st.

After those two, the pen gets shaky. Luis Avilan is the only left handed reliever. David Hale is struggling after losing two extra inning games in three days. Anthony Varvaro is still pitching. And Pedro Beato gets the call up from AAA to replace Carpenter on the roster.
