CHANDLER, Ariz., June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- SAIFE, Inc. today announced that the United States Navy has granted the SAIFE® Mobility Suite an Authority To Operate (ATO) on the Navy's Special Communications Requirements Division's RDT&E network. The SAIFE Mobility Suite provides secure data-in-transit, secure messaging, and secure voice with simplified secure device management on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) devices, including smartphones, tablets, and other devices. The ATO enables the Navy to move forward with wide-scale trial deployments to assess interoperability with existing infrastructure.

The SAIFE platform utilizes FIPS 140-2 validated Suite B cryptography software with elliptical curve-based encryption, and the SAIFE Mobility Suite meets stringent military standards for securing communication between mobile devices. Global communications are provided through SAIFE's worldwide secure network TIPRNET®, which protects against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks and includes multi-endpoint interoperability on public infrastructure.

"The government desires to use COTS devices for communication and information sharing, but most commercial devices and networks pose grave security risks," explained James Jones, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of SAIFE. "The SAIFE Framework uniquely enables the use of COTS devices for both government and commercial applications, and this ATO from the Navy will showcase the ability of the SAIFE Framework to provide highly secure and authenticated data, voice and messaging in a wide-scale deployment."

"The SAIFE Framework applies to devices well beyond smartphones," said Darren Cummings, CEO and co-founder of SAIFE. "It can be used to secure data for any IP-based endpoint, including the sensors, gateways, machines, and connected devices making up the Internet of Things. Any device that connects to the Internet or to another device will benefit from SAIFE."
