COLUMBUS, Ga. - A standoff with an armed man inside a home on Moon Road has ended after 6 hours, officials say.

Gerald Wilcox was arrested early Friday morning at his home without incident, according to police. Online records show that Wilcox lives in a home in the 5000 block on Moon Road, where the incident took place.

On Thursday night, Columbus police and a SWAT team responded to a man firing a gun at a home on Moon Road, police tell News 3. Police say the suspect was inside the home, repeatedly firing a handgun. Police said that during the standoff, they did not know if anyone else was home with Wilcox. On Friday afternoon, the police officials News 3 spoke with said they still did not know if anyone else was home.

Wilcox was arrested at around 3:00 a.m., police officials were unable to tell News 3 how he was arrested, but said no one was injured.

Columbus Police blocked off the road from the intersection of Moon Road and Hampton Drive to Moon Road and Pittman Street for the majority of Thursday night into Friday morning.

Wilcox has been charged with discharging a firearm within city limits and reckless conduct. He was released on bond on Friday, according to jail records. His first court hearing is at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
