COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Hurricane Arthur will continue to impact locations along the entire east coast over the holiday weekend.

Arthur, the first named storm of the 2014 Atlantic hurricane season, formed Tuesday morning off the east coast of Florida. The storm was upgraded to hurricane status early Thursday morning.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for coastal areas of Massachusetts through tonight.

Hurricane Arthur was centered about 95 miles (150 kilometers) east-southeast of Norfolk, Virginia and was moving north-northeast at 23 miles-per-hour as of 7 AM Friday.  Maximum sustained winds were estimated at 100 mph. .
