COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Columbus firefighters have extinguished a fire at Club Hill Apartment Complex off of Warm Springs Road.

Around 12:40p et, the Columbus Fire Department responded to a kitchen fire. 35 firefighters battled the flames as they spread to a neighboring apartment. The six apartments in the building are all being accessed for damage.

Jessica Pyles, who lives at the complex, sent the WRBL News 3 newsroom a photo showing the thick, black smoke rising into the air. WRBL News 3 senior meteorologist Kurt Schmitz, who was driving along Interstate 185 at the time, said he could see the smoke rising into the area from the neighborhood, located adjacent to Hardaway High School.

There no injuries. There was extensive fire damage to at least one apartment.
