RALEIGH, N.C. -

A Durham County Superior Court judge released redacted search warrants related to the September 2012 death of UNC student Faith Hedgepeth.

In March, Judge Howard Manning Jr. said he didn't expect to unseal search warrants and Hedgepeth's autopsy until he can review information from the Orange County courts.

Several media outlets had requested the search warrants and autopsy unsealed, but the district attorney's office argued that unsealing them would hurt the investigation.

Manning released the redacted documents Wednesday after authorities kept the documents sealed for nearly 2 years. Authorities said the release of more information could compromise the investigation into Hedgepeth's death.

"There was some stuff we learned today. We've pretty much been in the blind," Hedgepeth's father, Roland Hedgepeth, said of the warrants' release. "I haven't had time to process it."

Roland Hedgepeth said he has been on the fence whether the documents should be unsealed because he did not "want to jeopardize the investigation."

"But I want to know what transpired," he said.

The search warrants show police searched Faith Hedgepeth's Facebook account on Sept. 11, 2012, and roommate Karena Lynn Rosario's Facebook Oct. 11, 2012. Any evidence taken from those searches has been redacted.

Police seized bedding, pillows, undergarments, clothes and a laptop during the first search of the apartment on Sept. 7, 2012, a search warrant shows. Police returned Sept. 10, 2012, to the apartment and seized more clothes, paperwork, bathroom items and a flat iron.

On Sept. 11, 2012, a Jeep was searched by authorities. The owner of the Jeep had been in a relationship with Rosario, according to Roland Hedgepeth. Police seized items such as shoes, clothes and bedding items from the Jeep.

On July 18, 2012 a domestic violence protection order was put in place against the owner of the Jeep by Rosario. It ordered him to stay away from any place Rosario may be. The protection order accused him of breaking into Rosario's bedroom July 5, 2012, and verbally fighting with her.

He threatened to commit suicide by hanging July 5, 2012, according to the order.

The protection order further accuses him of breaking into Rosario's apartment July 10, 2012, after she had changed locks. He had lived in the apartment and as part of the order, Rosario wanted him to move out. The order was to remain in effect until July 18, 2012; it was served on July 17, 2012.

Court documents also show a white Honda Accord was searched Sept. 12, 2012. Police swabbed the back driver side interior bottom door frame and the driver side backseat seat cushion during the search of the Honda.

In addition to Faith Hedgepeth's apartment, police also searched another unit in the complex.

Questions have surrounded the UNC student's death since her body was discovered in her off-campus apartment in Durham on Sept. 7, 2012. No arrests have been made in the case and a suspect has not been named.

Investigators said Faith Hedgepeth had gone out to a local night club with friends the evening before her death. Police said they believe the killer knew Faith Hedgepeth and most likely lived nearby.

The State Crime Lab said DNA left at the scene of the murder of Faith Hedgepeth is that of a male suspect.
