Some future financial professionals took time away from their offices and desks, to grab a wrench and make bikes for a good cause.

Members of the Management Associate Program at Regions Financial Corporation put the finishing touches on several green bicycles to donate to Birmingham-area non-profit organizations.

The bikes were assembled and then given to four non-profit agencies in the Birmingham area, including The United Way of Central Alabama; Pathways, which is a United Way agency serving homeless women and children; Owens House – The Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center; and Glenwood Autism and Behavioral Health Center.

The donation ceremony was held at Sloss Furnaces Thursday afternoon.

Regions’ Management Associate Program involves recent college graduates who are beginning careers in the financial services industry.

The program is a leadership development initiative which includes professional training, team building exercises and community service projects.

Today’s donation included a number of green bikes, similar to those you’ve probably seen in Regions television commercials.

The members of the Management Associate Program had wrenches and tools, and tightened the final bolts on the bikes, before handing the bikes over to the non-profit agencies.

Regions is a full-service provider of consumer and commercial banking, and does business in 16 states across the Southern USA, Midwest, and Texas.
