New start and end times for Muscogee middle schools

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBUS, Ga. -

The Muscogee County school district is telling parents that middle school students will have new start and end times for the 2014 school year.

Middle schools across the district will start at 8:50 a.m. which is 10 minutes earlier than last year and end at 3:52 p.m. which is 13 minutes earlier than last year. The district says the new times will establish more continuity between middle and high school scheduling models. The middle school bell schedule is modified to reflect similar scheduling changes that were made at the high school level and helps to facilitate efficient bus schedules. The middle school time change also allows school administrators to incorporate Professional Learning communities and Increased Learning Time at the middle school level during the work week.
