Woman finds 7 ft. snake in her engine after car breaks down

Posted: Updated:

A woman was terrified when she found out what caused her car to break down. Jackson Ault pulled over to help the woman. When he opened the hood of her car, a 20 pound python stared him down.  He said it looked right at him, flicked its tongue and looking at kind of freaked him out a little bit.

They called police and Lt. Louis Carlos had a much different reaction. He wanted to hold it and with with no fear at all, the officer took the snake off the engine, and babysat it until animal control got there. "It was easy for me to just to go in there, pick her up, hold onto her, let her feel the warmth of my hands and my body., said Lt. Carlos.

The python is pretty young and at seven feet long, probably only halfway grown. Reptile experts said it likely sought out shelter in the truck to get warm and said the python isn't dangerous, but there's always the risk of an attack if the snake feels threatened.

Police believe the snake is someone's pet.
