Columbus prisoner escapes from work detail

COLUMBUS, Ga. -

Columbus law enforcement are looking for prisoner that escaped from a work detail Friday afternoon.

Around 1p et, Avery Javon Kirksey was on a prison work detail off of Amber Drive near Kendrick High School when he disappeared, Muscogee County Prison Warden Dwight Hamrick said. Kirksey was seen walking away from the site.

Kirksey is described as a black man with brown eyes and black hair. He is six feet talk and about 160 pounds. He is originally from Statesboro.

Anyone who spots Kirksey is asked to contact authorities.
