SEALE, Ala. -

A candle may have started a fire that destroyed a Seale mobile home Friday afternoon, the man who lived in the home told WRBL News 3.

Shortly before 5p et, the man left a candle burning in the home when he went next door to visit his aunt, he said. A short time later, the two called 911 after seeing smoke coming from the home.

The Seale and Hatchachubee volunteer fire departments responded to the fire on Old Seale Highway. Crews managed to keep the fire from spreading but the mobile home was completely destroyed.

Officials are still conducting their own investigation into the cause of the fire.
