Our Firm is representing hundreds of women who are pursuing vaginal mesh lawsuits against Ethicon and other companies. We look forward to the start of this trial, as its outcome may provide insight into how juries will rule in similar cases, says Bernstein Liebhard LLP, a nationwide law firm representing victims of defective drugs and medical devices. The Firm is currently offering free legal evaluations to women who allegedly suffered mesh erosion, pain, scarring, infection and other serious injuries following the implantation of surgical mesh to treat pelvic organ prolapse or stress urinary incontinence.

Ethicon Mesh Litigation
Court documents indicate that nearly 19,000 transvaginal mesh lawsuits have been filed in the Southern District of West Virginia against Ethicon and Johnson & Johnson. All of these cases allege that Ethicon's pelvic mesh products used in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence were defectively designed and manufactured, causing recipients to suffer mesh erosion, chronic pain, organ damage and other serious, and sometimes permanent, vaginal mesh complications. The lawsuits further accuse the defendants of failing to warn doctors and patients of these risks. Jeffrey S. Grand, a partner with Bernstein Liebhard LLP, is serving on the Plaintiffs

Steering Committee for This Proceeding
Ethicon and Johnson & Johnson have also been named defendants in well over 5,000 vaginal mesh lawsuits that have been filed in a multicounty litigation now underway in New Jersey's Atlantic County Superior Court. Mr. Grand has also been named Co-Liaison Counsel in that proceeding, and served on the Plaintiff's team in its first trial involving an Ethicon lawsuit. That case concluded in March 2013, when the Plaintiff was awarded more than $11 million for injuries she suffered from Prolift mesh. (In re: Pelvic Mesh/Gynecare Litigation, No. 6341-1)

Mr. Grand is also serving on the Plaintiffs Steering Committee for several other federal vaginal mesh proceedings underway in the Southern District of West Virginia, including: American Medical Systems, Inc. (MDL No. 2325); Boston Scientific Corp., (MDL No. 2326); and C.R. Bard, Inc., (MDL No. 2187). He was also named Co-Liaison Counsel in a second litigation underway in Atlantic County Superior Court for lawsuits involving C.R. Bard products. (In re: Pelvic Mesh Litigation/Bard, No. L-6339-10)

Bernstein Liebhard LLP continues to investigate legal claims on behalf of women who allegedly suffered serious vaginal mesh complications due to devices manufactured by Ethicon and other companies.
