WAKE FOREST, N.C. -

One person was killed in a shooting Saturday at home in Wake Forest, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting around 6:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Jordan Lane.

The sheriff’s office said 47-year old Jeffery Daylon Mitchell, of Wake Forest, was shot and killed. Deputies identified the shooter as 89-year-old Calvin Anderson Ray, Sr., of 101 Jordan Lane.

Investigators have not released a motive behind the shooting and have not filed any charges at this time.

Investigators are talking to witnesses about what led to the shooting.

Sheriff Donnie Harrison said Mitchell lived several houses away from where he was shot. The sheriff said the men knew each other, but he didn't know how well they were acquainted.
