Greenville cops find heroin with potent painkiller

Posted: Updated:
GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Investigators in Greenville say heroin found in the city was laced with a powerful painkiller.

Police Chief Hassan Aden said the heroin could have potentially been deadly.

Greenville officers seized the 990 bags of heroin on May 28 when they arrested a drug dealer as he was making a deal.

Aden sent the heroin to a lab, where tests last month showed it was laced with Fentanyl, a painkiller much stronger than morphine.

Aden says his officers are concentrating on stopping heroin, which has seen a marked increase in Greenville in recent months.

Authorities haven't reported any deaths linked to the potent heroin they seized.
