JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) -

Update:

The man and woman who died in an alleged murder-suicide Sunday afternoon, have been identified by Johnson City Police Department investigators.

According to a JCPD news release, officers responded to Brush Creek Meadows Apartment Complex, 2914 Watauga Road, around 2:45 p.m., and found Harry Lynch, 76, and Tina Ellis Lynch, 43, dead from gunshot wounds.

Based on the preliminary investigation and preliminary reports from the William L. Jenkins Forensic Center, the deaths indicate a domestic related murder-suicide and Harry Lynch is suspected of shooting his wife prior to taking him own life, according to the release.

The investigation will remain open pending the final autopsy results.

Previous story:

Johnson City Police continue their investigation into the deaths of a man and a woman who were discovered dead in their apartment Sunday afternoon at Brush Creek Meadows Apartment Complex located at 2914 Watauga Road.

Police say somebody called in and said they found two bodies inside an apartment at around 3 o-clock.

When police arrived, they found a man and woman dead with gun shot wounds.

Investigators say it appears to be a murder/suicide.

"Everything is kind of leaning towards that right now. Again we won't know everything until we get the autopsy results back. We'll have to get some lab results back as far as gun shot residue and everything like that," said Sgt. Kevin Peters with the Johnson City Police Department.

Police did not release the names of the man or woman, but did say they believe them to be husband and wife.
